On Tuesday, March 6th at 7:30 at the Casa de Luz Auditorium, located at 1701 Toomey Road, 78704, Sun Dragon will be giving a black belt demonstration for the Japan-America Society of Greater Austin. A smaller demonstration featuring all belt ranks will also be happening. All adult classes are cancelled that evening, but everyone is invited to come to the demonstration. All ranks are encouraged to come and watch or help with the audience participation portion, but it is not required. Below is what the Japan-America website has to say about our demonstration-
About Demonstration and Workshop:
Black belts from Sun Dragon Martial Arts and Self Defense will present a demonstration of the traditional Japanese Seido Karate style. The demonstration will include formal kata, defenses against knives, and tameshiwari (breaking). Participants will have the opportunity to learn some basic techniques too!
Non-profit Sun Dragon Martial Arts and Self Defense teaches non-violent karate and practical violence prevention to children and adults of all ages. Seido Karate is designed to foster healthy minds, bodies, and communities. The self defense program emphasizes personal empowerment and skills to reduce violence and create peace.
About Joy Williamson:
Head instructor Joy Williamson received a black belt in Kyokushin Karate, and is a nidan in Seido Karate. She is also a certified self defense instructor with the National Women’s Martial Arts Federation. She will be joined by a team of black belt students and teachers.
